People have been fascinated with war photography for as long as cameras have been used. Now more than ever, photographers, both skilled and unskilled, are chasing the career-making photograph. Below is a great video on professional photographer Michael Christopher Brown and how he came to shoot photos in China, Libya, and later the Congo with his iPhone for Time Magazine. As Brown aptly notes, "There is a difference between making a pretty picture and making a powerful picture. It doesn't matter what kind of camera or application or mobile phone you're using, a strong picture is a strong picture."
A photo is just a photo no matter how it was created. No one really cares, other than photographers, what camera, lens, or film was used or how the image was captured. What matters most is that the image conveys a message, hopefully the same message the photographer was trying to get across.
