Ask the American - Episode 7
Two Prostitutes or Good Girls?

In this episode, I answer a question from a viewer from Canada and give my opinion about two women he spent time with in the past.  Are they decent Thai women or were they only with him for the money?
Dear Scott,

I have a couple of questions regarding my experience with two Thai ladies I was with. Both were great girls and I had a great time with them. However, I would appreciate the view point of someone from Thailand who knows the culture there.
First, I am not from Thailand, I'm from the U.S. I do know a little about the culture, however.
The first lady I was with in 2001 was very nice to me (I was 31 at the time) and we partied in Bangkok. I ran short on funds and she lent me some money till some money was sent over. She also put me up in her apartment for a short while. She even suggested we visit her village - which I wasn't into at the time. She gave me a card (photo ID) with her picture and name in English. When my dad mentioned this to his friend who is married to a Thai woman, the friend said she was a working girl. Also, she had pictures of her with foreigners and she told me she lived in South Africa for a while. She didn't want me to look at them though.

We met when she approached me in a non-sexual entertainment district in Bangkok and had some good times together. Do you think she was a working girl.
Most Thai women are too shy and discreet to walk up to a foreigner and ask him out. It's done but rare. It was nice of her to put you up and help you financially, but she could very well still be a hooker. Also, you just met her and she wants you to meet her family...these seemingly innocuous situations come together and form a fairly clear picture. In my opinion, this girl was on the game, elb
The second woman I met was at a massage parlor and she gave me a happy ending and we got friendly afterwards. We spent a couple of weeks as boyfriend/girlfriend in Pattaya where she worked. This was in 2011
You're either extremely naive or messing with me. Surely you are smart enough to know that a girl working in a massage parlor giving happy endings is indeed a working girl...but I guess not.
She was 35 years old and a virgin. We had sex and fooled around but she was inexperienced sexually. Also, when I gave her some money — like 500 baht to go shopping while I browsed the internet, she did not want it. I gave it to her so she had some spending money and I could have some time to myself.
I have a very difficult time believing a 35-year-old woman working in a massage parlor was a virgin. Sorry, I don't buy it.
When I sent her some money from my country (at my initiative), she text me afterwards and wrote, "You did not tip." Did she mean she expected to be paid for her time? Is a girl working in a massage parlor giving happy endings considered a working girl?
She is considered a prostitute by me, certainly. You sent her money. This is a big no-no. One of my many rules in dealing with women here — DO NOT SEND MONEY TO WOMEN UNLESS THEY'RE YOUR WIFE! The simple fact is you sent her money and she's asking why you didn't send her a tip? Doesn't this strike you as odd? This women be inexperienced but she knew what she wanted. Money.

Trip to Phuket - Episode 2

Part two of my quick trip to Phuket for a job interview. Watch as I finally make the train bound for Suratthani and carry on a conversation with three Thai women all traveling home to visit their husbands.

Also, you'll get a look at where everyone does their business, the train restaurant that had next to nothing available, and my coffin-like bunk bed.

Monks waiting for the train at Hualamphong Station (Taken with Hipstamatic)
Part one of my journey to Phuket

Basically the plan was to jump on a bus for Phuket, interview for a job, spend a little time with an American who is a long-time expat (25 years), then return to Bangkok the following day. As is often the case, things don't always go as planned. The trip and the three videos are more about the journey than Phuket. Nevertheless, it was an interesting trip for me as I haven't been to Phuket for several years. Other than one or two trips to Suratthani, it's also been a couple years since I've taken the bus or train to a destination,
