A little something different.
I first heard of this troupe in 2005, when South African photographer Pietr Hugo released his portraits of the members with their respective animals. The documentary below takes a closer look at who they are and what is involved in their traveling show. Some may find the treatment of the animals appalling; it is easy to be judgmental. If you look how the vast majority of Nigerians live, and how the Hyena Men live, the animals are merely survival tools that give them a way to provide for their families.
Pietr Hugo Photo Gallery - The Hyena and Other Men
An intriguing film that unravels the myth of Nigeria’s Hyena People, who arrive in towns wrapped in rock pythons, with hyenas in chains and with trained monkeys turning somersaults. Some believe that they are part animal and possess magical powers. The reality is that they are traveling minstrels earning money by performing with animals. This examines the clash between the urban and the wild, and the paradoxical relationship that the handlers have with their animals – sometimes loving, sometimes brutal and cruel.

The blowback against Obama, Biden, Schiff and others is building. Corruption at the top, spying, political infighting and the new three trillion dollar stimulus package further illustrate the cracks in the US political system and ideology and the nation. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi claims the package is strictly related to the virus but Republicans say the package is DOA.
