Bangkok, August 24, 2017 — Day 10/365.
If it takes money to make money, it also takes more to live off $500 than $500. It's one thing to be forced to live with $500 a month and have nothing to fall back on. However, if an expat living in Thailand is paying zero rent, has a long term visa, medical insurance and a decent chunk of change socked away, $500 is enough. Either way, it is possible to live off $500 a month. Option two means having more free cash; no visa worries, insurance to cover medical costs if hospitalized and money to draw from if need be. Obviously it's not always possible, but it's better to choose to budget $500 a month than having no choice. $1000 is better and provides some padding. $1500 a month provides far more breathing room. $500 Month Budget: Rent - 3500 Food - 7500 Utilities - 1000 Mobile phone - 500 Transportation - 1000 Spending - 1000 Save - 2000 Total = 16,500 baht ($500)
$1500 Per Month Budget
Rent - 10,000 Food - 10,000 Utilities - 1,500 Mobile - 1,200 Transportation - 3,000 Miscellaneous - 4,000 Spending - 10,000 Savings - 7,000 Total = 46,700 baht ($1415) - round up to $1500. *** Chomping at the bit for Mayweather - Mcgregor on August 26. Will Mayweather completely outclass Mcgregor as expected or will we see the unexpected? *** Photographers: I am looking for labs in Bangkok capable of producing silver gelatin prints. Anyone out there know of any? Good night.
