Thailand North to South 2020: What's In the Bag

In less than a week I take off for yet another trip. This time I'll be taking a long walk. On August 20, I begin walking from the Northernmost point of Thailand (Mae Sai) to the Southernmost point of Thailand (Betong). I'll be flying into Chiang Rai, spending the night, then hopping on a bus to Mae Sai where I'll begin walking from the Thai-Burmese border. From Mae Sai midway to Chiang Rai is 33.6 kilometers, where I will then check in to a hotel. After a good night's sleep, I'll walk another 30kms south to the city of Chiang Rai.

The plan is to wake up extremely early, get in 5-6 hours of walking—at a leisurely pace— before the heat kicks in. Take a midday lunch break to recharge, then walk a few more hours once it cools off.  Total walking distance per day will be between 12 and 25 miles depending on how my body holds up. I'll be carrying a light pack with a Camelback, and if my body tells me to rest, I will. Take a look at the map above to view the route.
While I'm on this journey, I'll be streaming daily at 9am. If and when possible, I'll also be streaming in the evening at 8pm or 9pm. All times are tentative; internet may not be available in all areas and it may make sense to stream earlier or later depending on my location. I'm going to attempt to do all video editing on my phone. Doing so can be somewhat limiting, but I'm traveling lean and trying to make minimal edits to the original footage.

My budget for this trip is 1200 baht per day. That works out to $38.65 per day. This is a bare bones budget. The money covers food, water (gallons and gallons of it), transportation (at the start and finish), cheap hotels, internet (specifically for live streams) as well as miscellaneous expenses such as laundry, band aids, sunscreen, mosquito repellent and anything else unexpected. The first leg of the trip (Mae Sai to Bangkok) should take approximately one month including rest days. 30 days x $38.65 = $1159.50. The next leg of the trip may take as long as 6 weeks–approximately $1800. So...any support you can give will be greatly appreciated.

The below methods (along with ApplePay), PayPal and the Cash App, are the two methods with the lowest fees. The split on YouTube Super Chats and Memberships is 70% to me and 30% to YouTube and Patreon ends up costing approximately 10%, so compared to PayPal's 3%-%5 and the Cash App (nothing), their fees are quite high. Anyway, thanks for ANY support, financial or otherwise. If you would like to make a contribution to this trip via another method, click here.
