Here’s what I ate this week:
Summer Squash Lamb Meatballs (5 of 5 stars) - of the four dishes I tried, this was my favorite. I don’t usually eat squash, but the combination of the lamb with the squash was perfect. It doesn’t get much better than this. I was digging in and Alex and Nicholas decided to join in. Before I knew it, we were fighting for the last bits. It was that good.
Chicken Fajitas (4.5 of 5 stars) - this dish came in a close second and what surprised me most was how fresh the chicken tasted. It melted in my mouth and again, the combination of protein and vegetable was excellent.
Fruit Summer Salmon Salad (4.5 of 5 stars) - To be honest, I’m not big on salads. I eat them once a day or several times a week, but most of the time the salads I make leave a lot to be desired. The first thing I noticed with this salad was how huge it was. Resting on strawberries, apple, mango, and dragonfruit was a massive piece of salmon. Much better than I expected and filling too.
Mackerel with Garlic Tomato Sauce (4 of 5 stars)- I’m not particularly fond of mackerel but decided to eat this meal because I wanted to try something different. Once again I was surprised. Alex didn’t think he would like it either, but we both thought it was very good. Nicholas has always liked mackerel and the three of us polished this off with no trouble.
Six months ago, I had hip surgery. For the past six months, I have been healing, impatiently, and waiting to get back in the gym. I decided to start taking better care of myself and to lose weight and adjust to a healthier diet. So far, I’ve lost 20 pounds, however, my weight fluctuates by several pounds depending on what I am eating and if I am exercising. I need to get to the next level and I have decided to give the Paleo lifestyle a try. Here in Thailand, there are two fresh markets ten minutes from my home, which makes it easy to buy fruit and vegetables.
Organic meats can be found if one is willing to travel, but all in all, the protein is the difficult part of eating paleo in Bangkok. Also, I’m no chef and cooking paleo meals, or any meals for that matter, hinders my progress. Eating healthy, delicious meals just isn’t happening if I’m doing the cooking.
Fortunately, I found Paleo Robbie, a Paleo restaurant / market that fits my nutritional needs. Their prices are reasonable, considering the quality of the food, and while it is easy to eat for next to nothing here in Thailand, the quality of food can be questionable.
Each week they send an email with a link to the meals for the week. You place your order by Friday at 5 PM and receive your first order on Monday. Each week the meals change and there are approximately 20 main dishes to choose from, plus side dishes. The meals come in a Tupperware container and to my surprise, the food was exceptionally fresh. When you’re ready to eat, heat the dish and dig in.
All of these meals were excellent, both as Paleo dishes and as ready-to-eat meals, and I can’t praise the quality and flavor enough. In addition to selling products in their market that are carefully sourced from well treated, pastured animals or wild caught fish. I highly recommend giving PaleoRobbie a try.
Now through October 31, use the coupon code *AIB399, order six meals and get one free meal valued at 399 baht, or receive 399 baht off your first order from the Paleo Robbie grocery.
*One time only.

A man who met a Thai woman online writes in. He's been communicating with her for seven months, and now, he's coming to Thailand to meet her. The problem is, she's already possessive, and he's having serious doubts about whether he really wants to meet her.
I'll be taking a brief hiatus beginning next week. Before I leave there will be one or two more videos going up on YouTube, two more videos going up in the member's section, and two to three more podcasts going live. While I'm gone I'm going to make a decision on whether it's better to upload a video or two on YouTube every month or to start a podcast on iTunes. I'm leaning towards iTunes. Either way, the member's section will continue as always. Member's - please post on the forum!
