It's 2:00 AM here in Bangkok, Thailand on October 18. In 15 hours, my family and I leave for Suratthani. I'm looking forward to the trip and to some much needed peace and quiet. There is no internet in the village, no signal, nothing. So if I am able to send a message, I'll be extremely lucky.
Letters to Thailand
This letter actually did come in (unbelievable as it may sound) and aside from the women pressuring the man who wrote the letter to marry her, everything else seemed reasonable. Well...unless you consider flying a Thai woman you hardly know over to the U.S.
He met her, supposedly she's not a hooker, and it must be love...love...money. Oops, I think that last word was supposed to be love. Of course, being the skeptic I am, I don't think it's love at all. Lust maybe, professed love in the heat of passion, maybe, but definitely not real love.
First, do men actually believe that they'll come to Thailand and meet the girl of their dreams in a week? Do they really believe the Homeland Security Department will actually approve a visa on the grounds that it was love at first sight?
One reason why I am so happy to get away to a place of solitude is it's easier to write in places where there aren't a million things going on. I've been working on a book and need to finish it. I'm not going to say much but it's not a book teaching How-to Move to Thailand, or The Ultimate Guide to Thailand, or "You Too Can Find a Quality Thai Girl," some other piece of shit book penned by someone who can barely write their name and who doesn't know the difference between TWO and TOO. Hemingway and Michener are probably turning over in their graves as I write.
