laughing. My two sons were with me and then they joined in. "Daddy. What's so funny?"
Honestly, I really don't know what's so funny about it but I guess it has something to do with the name. As if drinking a bottle of ManSome will make every man handsome and irresistible like George Clooney or a young Elvis Presley. "What is ManSome?" I asked the clerk. He shot a wry look and with a straight face said,"This is a Thai drink. It has collagen and is for men." His face quickly took on the look of a man who had been wronged. Apparently he didn't share my sense of humor or see any reason to laugh.
"It's not soda?" I asked.
"No, it has collagen and vitamins, and is made for men," he continued. "Models drink it."
Obviously this is a drink he approves of. But, funny name and all, I bought a bottle. As soon as I got home, my two sons, clearly swayed by the clerks' endorsement, reached for the bag with the bottle of ManSome. "Wait a minute!" I said. "You guys are young, you're already ManSome. I'm old, I need all the help I can get!"
Parched, I downed half the bottle in seconds. "Daddy! I want some," said Nicholas, my youngest son. I handed him the bottle. "Mmmm, it's yummy," he said. Alex reached across the kitchen table. 'My turn," he said. He gulped down the last of the drink.
"Yea, pretty good."
We all agreed, ManSome was decent. It was a sweet, almost too sweet, and tasted like apples and grapes. Will it be my go-to drink of the future...uh, no. But any drink geared towards men deserves a try, even if it is sort of a girly-man drink. I think there's more pretty boy in the drink than man.
A drink named ManSome should use manly-man ingredients; Rocky Mountain Oysters put through a juicer, a stout ale, a couple of raw eggs, lime juice, topped off with a couple of shots of Tequila. If you're feeling extra manly, toss in some Tabasco sauce. Blend and drink with a large group of manly men. No girly men or metrosexuals allowed!
